The North East of England is an area of great beauty encompassing a rich diversity of wildlife. Several of the area's habitats are of national and international importance, such as the unique whin grassland, and there are many rare species of birds , mammals and plants. Northumberland is a special place with landscapes of great beauty steeped in natural and manmade history.
But there have been stark losses in several of the northern counties.
The native red squirrel is now one of the UKs rarest mammals and whilst areas in Northumberland have the most significant English population, without action now it may be lost in just a few years.
Only three percent of our county is left with ancient woodland cover.
Over seventy percent of our once wide spread neutral grassland has been lost and the largest of our remaining sites is smaller than a football pitch.
Many other species have declined drastically, including the large heath butterfly and the watervole.
What New Horizon Landscapes can do to help you help the environment you live in.
Firstly an appointment would be arranged with the client, a site evaluation would take place to discuss what the client required of the given area and ideas would be suggested from the consultant carrying out the advisory visit. A follow up visit would then take place to carry out a wildlife and habitat survey. After this a management plan would be drawn up giving all details of the site and recommendations.
